From its founding in 2008 to the present day: These are the most important milestones in the history of APK AG.
As APK AG’s newly appointed CEO, Dr. Steve Döring joins Chief Technology Officer Dr. Robert Marx and Chief Financial Officer Jürgen Schiffer in rounding out the company’s Management Board.
APK AG devoted itself in 2023 to putting in place key elements of its successful expansion. Strong investors, including LyondellBasell and KIRKBI A/S, successful ISO certifications, and the signing of first product supply contracts provide the ideal basis for ongoing planning and the start of construction in 2024.
The independent testing and certification company TÜV Rheinland certified APK AG in accordance with ISO Standard 9001-Quality Management Systems. APK AG has now received certifications for ISO 9001-Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001-Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 50001-Energy Management Systems.
LyondellBasell, a global leader in the chemical industry and KIRKBI A/S, the family-owned holding and investment company of the LEGO® brand, announce they have signed an agreement to make an investment in APK, which specializes in a unique solvent-based recycling technology for low density polyethylene (LDPE). Under the agreement, LyondellBasell and KIRKBI will become minority shareholders in APK and together with other co-investors will invest approximately 130 million Euro in APK. Further Newcyling® plants are planned to be built to increase the production capacity.
The technical center “Technikum” at the traditional chemical location Frankfurt a. Main will form the heart of APK AG’s further research and development work. In the future, the “Technikum” will be operated by the newly founded APK Newcycling Competence Center GmbH.
